A key information to know if you are currently using JDeveloper is that migration to JDeveloper 11g is supported only from JDeveloper 10.1.3.4. So you might want to first upgrade to 10.1.3.4 if you are still in other versions.

I was wondering how JDeveloper stacks up to WebLogic Workshop, in your opinion. Is JDeveloper going to be Oracle's strategic product moving forward and Workshop slowly phased out?

JDeveloper will definitely catch up to speed with Workshop but moving forward Eclipse plug-ins (Workshop) will also be supported. In fact Oracle already removed licensing from Workshop Eclipse Plug-ins. So moving forward customers can make their own choice. But JDeveloper is already integrated into other Oracle Fusion Middleware products so it will be the strategic direction and more convenient solutions for customers. Needless to say this is subjected to change in the future.
